The Philadelphia Flyers get their second chance to advance to round2 tonight vs the Montreal Canadiens. After a 5-3 loss in Game5, the Flyers look to rebound & move on to round2. Where they would face the New York Islanders.
Matt Niskanen will not be opposite of his usual defense partner Ivan Provorov. After a high & unnecessary cross-check to Brendan Gallagher in Game5, Niskanen was suspended one-game on Thursday.
Shayne Gostisbehere is expected to be in the lineup. With Niskanen suspended, Gostisbehere should be the next in line to enter the lineup. But, don’t expect Gostisbehere to jump into Niskanen’s spot next to Provorov.
With Niskanen OUT, Alain Vigneault has a decision to make with who plays with Ivan Provorov. Travis Sanheim, who has been the Flyers 3rd defenseman so far during the playoffs, should get the first look. But, it would be very hard to break-up Phil Myers & Travis Sanheim. A pair that has been very consistent this season. My guess would be Justin Braun plays with Provorov & Robert Hagg plays with Shayne Gostisbehere.
Jake Voracek has been the best Flyers forward so far. Voracek joked after Game3 that “I’ve scored two goals and I didn’t need a stick yet. I think that’s a positive thing.” That continued in Game5 with two goals coming off of Canadiens. The Flyers look for Voracek’s luck to continue in Game6.
Carter Hart should start again for the Flyers. After giving up 4-goals for the 2nd time this series, Hart looks to replicate his performance after his first 4-goal game. A shut-out would send the Flyers into the 2nd round.
It is Game6 & 5 of the 6 Flyers leading goal scorers from the regular season have yet to score. Add in the three play-in games & still no goals from the Flyers leading goal scorers. The Flyers depth has proven to be great & got them to this point. Will they finally break out in Game6?
Nicolas Aube-Kubel has been banged up since blocking 2-shots at the end of Game3. Aube-Kubel has been a scratch the last two-games. If Aube-Kubel is ready to return, his energy & hard-nosed mentality would be a big boost to the Flyers.
Michael Raffl – Sean Couturier – Jake Voracek
Joel Farabee – Kevin Hayes – Travis Konecny
Scott Laughton – Derek Grant – Claude Giroux
Tyler Pitlick – Nate Thompson – Connor Bunnaman
Ivan Provorov – Justin Braun
Phil Myers – Travis Sanheim
Shayne Gostisbehere – Robert Hagg
- The Flyers have been really good in 2020 after losing a game. Since their 4th straight loss to Carolina on January 7th, the Flyers have yet to lose back-to-back games. Going a perfect 9-0 & outscoring their opponent 41-17 in those games. If that stays true tonight, the best Flyers moneyline odds are -136 on DraftKings.
- The O/U was 5.0 in Game5 rather than 5.5 which it has been all series & the over hit. The O/U remains at its adjusted 5 for Game6. But, after the over hitting in Game5, expect Game6 to be more like the first four games of the series. Under is the way to go.
- Claude Giroux is starting to come alive in the series. While still no goals, Giroux assisted on both of Jake Voracek’s power-play goals in Game5. With the points starting to come, FoxBet has a nice BetBoost for Giroux to score tonight. Giroux scoring & Flyers win will net you $5.00 on the dollar.
- FOXBet is offering another PHILADELPHIA ALL WIN SuperBoost. This ended in disaster on Wednesday night. The Sixers got destroyed by Boston, Phillies blew a 2-0 1st inning lead, & Flyers lost a back & forth game to Montreal. Tonight, the odds go up. +1200 for all Sixers, Flyers, & Phillies all to win tonight.
