The orange and white uniforms the Philadelphia Flyers have adorned on the ice for the majority of their franchise history will be reportedly shelved away next season.
Gabe Tacuri, a jersey insider, enthusiast, collector, and seller better known as GTAC13JERSEYS on Twitter, tweeted out the news earlier Monday.
Have been hearing that the @NHLFlyers will have new Home and Away jerseys next season. #FueledByPhilly

And before you ask, the Flyers are not going back to the 1982-2007 jersey design that was featured on the Flyers’ 2020-21 Reverse Retro uniforms.
I can confirm that the current Flyers logo is here to stay, and that the new jerseys will not have the same design as either the Reverse Retro 1.0 or 2.0 do. #FueledbyPhilly https://t.co/pJqKuHTjrh

It will reportedly be a complete redesign from the only two designs the Flyers have worn in their 56-year history, so this is obviously a major deal.
It’ll be completely new, I think the color ways will be the same or extremely similar.

The home jerseys are rumored to be sticking with an orange base, and the black alternate jerseys that were first worn in the 2017 Stadium Series will be sticking around.
The person who told me this information also told me that the Alternate is staying.

Tacuri has plenty of legitimate sources and was revealing accurate details of designs from this season’s new Reverse Retro uniforms as well before they were released. This jersey change is definitely happening.
It will be very interesting to see what the new uniforms will look like. If you ask some fans, it’s been about time that the Flyers redesign their uniforms or at least switch things up a bit. A lot of those fans have been calling for the Flyers to bring back their 2012 Winter Classic jersey design back in some way, and that was certainly a popular option once the news dropped.

Some fans even dropped their own concepts in the replies, showing off their creativity and showing the Flyers’ need for a redesign.

Since the Flyers went back to their current jersey design as full-time home and away uniforms in 2010-11, the franchise’s history has been met with mixed results that have featured just six playoff appearances and three playoff series wins, making it no further than the Eastern Conference Semifinals. The Flyers also wore the orange jerseys for their 2010 playoff run that saw them make a surprise appearance in the Stanley Cup Final. The 1967-1982 Flyers that donned the uniform definitely had more success, highlighted by consecutive Stanley Cup championships in 1974 and 1975 that were accompanied by two other Final appearances (1976, 1980).
Since the Eric Lindros-era jerseys won’t be making their return, what kind of jerseys would you like to see the Flyers take the ice wearing next season?
