Maher Media’s Christopher Maher originally reported that York signed a two-year deal on Sunday, but the AAV of the contract was a little larger than expected.
York was one of five restricted free agents qualified by the Flyers back on June 14th, alongside Morgan Frost, Olle Lycksell, and the recently signed Ronnie Attard and Noah Cates.
The 2019 first-round pick was originally sent down during training camp this past season, but he was recalled on December 8th and didn’t look back. York posted 2 goals and 18 assists for 20 points in 54 games for Philadelphia. He also averaged 19:39 of ice time per game, fourth among Flyers defensemen.
York’s advanced numbers were pretty solid as well.

York will take on increased responsibility with the departure of Ivan Provorov to Columbus and the impending trade of Tony DeAngelo to Carolina. He took a major step in the right direction after his recall, and now he’ll have a chance to really prove himself and earn an even bigger contract in the future.
York will reach restricted free agency again in 2026 at the end of his current deal.
