The Philadelphia Flyers’ hot streak came to an end Thursday night against the Nashville Predators to a 4-2 final at the Wells Fargo Center.
It was a disappointing loss, after having the opportunity to avenge themselves after their loss on December 12th to the Predators, 3-2 in overtime. The Flyers (18-11-3) should be eager to bounce back in Detroit tonight.
Red Wings 3-7 in December
There is no question that it has been a rough month for Detroit. Their only wins have been against Montreal (5-4 OT), Buffalo (5-3), and St. Louis (6-4). They are currently on a 4-game losing streak, which includes the Flyers’ 1-0 victory over them at the Wells Fargo. Over these four games, the Red Wings have gone on the 9/10 penalty kill, and 2/15 on the powerplay.
Patrick Kane
So far with Detroit, Patrick Kane has hovered close to the point per game mark, earning 6 points (2g, 4a) in 8 games, averaging 19:14 of TOI, and a -5 on the plus/minus.
After going scoreless against Carolina and Philadelphia, Kane has earned 4 points (1g, 3a) in his last 2 games
Flyers Shake Things Off
It is okay to lose games, especially for a club that publicly announced a rebuild.
They have still won 7 of their last 8 games, and Carter Hart gets to return to net without feeling as much pressure as he may have if Samuel Ersson wasn’t as great as he has been.
Beating Detroit
Despite losing a lot of games in December, they may not be as bad as you think. While on a 4 game losing streak, they have only let up 1 power play goal over 10 penalty kills. Their powerplay is rather non-existent, so that just leaves 5v5. Detroit’s numbers at even strength may suffer now with a new rotation of goalies with Ville Husso and Alex Lyon recovering from injuries.
