Vorobyev out with long-term injury in Russia

(Amy Irvin / The Hockey Writers)

Former Flyers forward Mikhail Vorobyev suffered a potentially long-term injury in KHL action on Christmas Eve.

The 23 year old took a spill after light contact and hit the ice. Vorobyev spat out his mouthpiece and was helped off by teammates.

A google translated Russian website speculates that Mikhail Vorobyev will be out long-term with a lower body injury.

Vorobyev signed a three year deal with Russian side HC Salavat Yulaev in June, but the Flyers opted to retain his rights by qualifying him in the offseason.

Mikhail Vorobyev represented Russia at the 2016-2017 World Junior Championships. He had five points (two goals, three assists) in 35 career games with the Flyers after being drafted in the fourth round in 2015.
