Philadelphia Flyers prospect and Lehigh Valley Phantoms defenseman Egor Zamula will miss the remainder of the Calder Cup Playoffs after undergoing shoulder surgery on April 10th, per the Flyers.
Zamula is expected to make a full recovery in time for training camp in September. He is in the final year of his entry-level contract with the Flyers and will likely be tendered a qualifying offer as he enters restricted free agency.
The 23-year-old blueliner suffered the injury on March 31st in a 4-2 victory over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. He recorded an assist in the game before leaving with his ailment.
Zamula appeared in 44 games for Lehigh Valley in the regular season, posting 1 goal and 18 assists for 19 points. He also suited up in 14 games with Philadelphia, racking up 4 assists.
The Atlantic Division’s 6-seed, the Phantoms are currently ahead 1-0 in their best-of-3 First Round series against the 3-seed Charlotte Checkers in their first playoff appearance since 2018.
Lehigh Valley has a chance to complete the upset and sweep Charlotte on Thursday night (7:00pm ET, Service Electric/AHLTV) to set up a Division Semifinals matchup against the Hershey Bears.
