A day after NHL teams submitted their official 23-man rosters ahead of the 5 p.m. deadline, the Philadelphia Flyers finally revealed theirs earlier this morning with a few surprising, yet positive, moves.

Over the course of last week the Flyers made several cuts, placed a few players on waivers with the intention of clearing, and then were left with a little bit of a conundrum in terms of who would make the final spots. Their training camp was highly publicized because of how John Tortorella went about it and due to its high intensity training, several players got the boot sooner rather than later – see Cam York.
On the eve of roster-decision day, there were several battles to keep an eye on that included whether or not Wade Allison would make the team, Samuel Ersson versus his best friend in Felix Sandstrom for the backup position, whether or not Egor Zamula or Ronnie Attard would crack the squad, and how the bottom-six would look.
In the end, after the consensus pointed towards both Zamula and Attard being sent down, they both made the team as the Flyers are going with 13 forwards, 8 defensemen, and 2 goaltenders. However, the delay in their official submission of their roster was because they had to make a few paper moves and IR/LTIR correspondences.
Sean Couturier was placed on the Injured Reserve (IR), Ryan Ellis was placed on the Long Term Injured Reserve (LTIR), Bobby Brink, Patrick Brown, and Felix Sandstrom are on the Injured Non-Roster list. Wade Allison, Tanner Laczynski, and Egor Zamula were recalled from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms after being sent down in a paper move yesterday.
The Flyers are set to embark on their 2022-23 season on Thursday night as they play host to the New Jersey Devils in a battle of the two teams who somehow lost on Johnny Gaudreau.
