Adam Ginning agreed to an extension with the Philadelphia Flyers. He signed on for a two-year/$1.575mil contract, good through 2025-2026. The contract is a two-way, one-way deal.
Ginning made his NHL debut with the Flyers on April 11th, 2023, versus the Columbus Blue Jackets alongside Justin Braun. He recorded his first NHL point (1G) this season against the Blue Jackets on April 6th, 2024, paired with Ronald Attard.
Then, rumors swirled regarding Ginning possibly returning to Sweden instead of remaining in Philadelphia.
However, this news thwarts those rumors. Ginning spent most of last season with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. In 58GP with the Phantoms, Ginning totaled 15 points (2G, 13A), including a shorthanded goal. He is a stable defensive defenseman who is not shy with his body in checking or blocking shots.

When Nick Seeler went onto the injured reserve list after blocking a shot against the St. Louis Blues, the Flyers recalled Ginning. Some hoped Emil Andrae would get another opportunity, but Ginning better complemented a defensive unit needing a stay-at-home defenseman in a lineup full of two-way and offensive defensemen. Philadelphia went 3-1-2 against NHL Stanley Cup Playoff teams (Florida Panthers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Carolina Hurricanes, Boston Bruins, and New York Rangers) with Ginning in the lineup. After his 2023-2024 season debut, Ginning went on a reassignment to Lehigh Valley after a physical performance against the Panthers before getting another recall to the NHL club. At the end of the NHL season, he rejoined the Phantoms for the AHL Calder Cup Playoffs.

In Game 1 of the Atlantic Division First Round against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, Ginning tallied his lone point of the AHL Calder Cup Playoffs. Ginning provided a lead for Adam Brooks, who scored the first Lehigh Valley goal of the postseason en route to sweeping the Penguins in the best-of-three series, 2-0.
Next season, Ginning will contest Egor Zamula for a role on defense in Philadelphia.
