The NHL announced on Sunday that they have fined Flyers forward Nicolas Aube-Kubel. Aube-Kubel was issued a $2,687.50 fine for kneeing Mason Marchment.
The fine was the maximum amount allowed under the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The money that Aube-Kubel forfeited will go directly to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
The incident occurred during the third period of the Flyers game against the Florida Panthers on Saturday. NAK was issued a minor penalty for tripping.
Marchment collected one assist in the game which saw the Panthers defeat the Flyers with a 4-2 final score. Aube-Kubel, despite getting three shots on goal, was unable to score in the contest.
The fine was expected to come down, and it was really only a matter of time.
This isn’t the first time Aube-Kubel has been fined by the league. Back in January of this year, he was fined for roughing Buffalo’s Rasmus Dahlin.
