The 24-year-old was drafted in the 6th round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft but has quickly turned into one of the more consistent performers for the Phantoms in his 2 short seasons since coming over from the Swedish Elite League. Last season Lycksell finished 2nd on the team in points with 45, trailing only Tyson Foerster’s 48 – who played 13 more games – and paced the club with 31 assists. Lycksell is also 4th in the AHL in goals (12) behind Logan Stankhoven (14), Adam Gaudette (13), and Jiri Kulich (13).
He made the big club out of training camp last season with a few injuries piling up and ended up suiting up in 8 games at the NHL-level in 3 separate stints, where he tallied 1 assist in 8 games.
This season he paces the club with 12 goals and 19 points in 21 games with fellow linemates in Tanner Laczynski and Samu Tuomaala right behind with 18 points apiece. The Phantoms are currently 6th in the Atlantic Division with a 9-8-4-0 record in 21 games but are only 3 points back of Providence for 3rd place – with one game in hand.

Lycksell has produced everywhere he has played, including his junior years in Sweden. In 2019-20 he scored 9 goals and 21 points for Linköping HC before finishing with the same 9 goals and 12 assists in 5 less games the following year with Färjestad BK. He improved to the tune of 14 goals and 34 points in 47 games with Växjö HC in his final season in his home-land.
Noah Cates was injured during their 1-0 shootout victory against the New York Islanders. He was then ruled out for the next 6-8 weeks with a lower body injury which was later clarified as a broken foot. He was officially placed on IR today and Louie Belpedio cleared waivers. Belpedio has yet to be assigned to AHL Lehigh Valley and was practicing with the Flyers on Wednesday.
