With the 103rd pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, the Philadelphia Flyers have selected center Cole Knuble.
He was ranked 105th among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting and 106th overall by Elite Prospects, but he was also ranked #77 by Dobber Prospects and #87 by Smaht Scouting, so his landing spot at 103 could potentially be a steal.
Knuble is the son of former Flyers forward Mike Knuble, who suited up in 362 combined regular season and playoff games for Philadelphia between 2005-06 and 2012-13.
Cole Knuble spent the 2022-23 season with the USHL’s Fargo Force, racking up 30 goals and 36 assists for 66 points in 57 games. He also scored 6 goals and 3 assists for 9 points in 9 playoff games.
Knuble will begin playing college hockey at the University of Notre Dame this season.
His main asset is creating havoc in front of the net. He is effective at screening the goaltender, causing netfront battles, and deflecting pucks on goal.
He stands at 5’11” and 184 pounds – a solid frame – and has the tools to potentially be a solid middle-six NHL forward. The question is will he play center or wing when he turns professional, but we’ll see what the Flyers have in store for his development.
