Murchison was a fifth-round pick of the Flyers in the 2021 NHL Draft and has spent the last four seasons at Arizona State University.
Standing at 6’2” and 205 pounds, Murchison served as an assistant captain this season for the Sun Devils and posted 4 assists, 48 penalty minutes, 98 blocked shots, and was +6 in 37 games. His 98 blocked shots led the team and set a single-season program record and he was named NCHC Defensive Defenseman of the Year for his efforts. Across his NCAA career, Murchison recorded 9 goals and 15 assists and was +17 in 146 games.
The Corona, California native helped lead his team to the NCHC Frozen Faceoff in St. Paul, Minnesota where they fell to the University of Denver, 3-2.
Murchison clearly is a steady defensive presence with a knack for getting in front of shots. He will likely begin his pro career in AHL Lehigh Valley as the Phantoms gear up for their final push before the Calder Cup Playoffs begin.
