The Philadelphia Flyers close out their back-to-back with a road date against the Ottawa Senators tonight at Canadian Tire Centre. The Flyers will be without captain Claude Giroux, who played in his 1000th game last night in the Flyers’ 5-4 win over Nashville and is expected to be dealt in the next couple days as the trade deadline approaches.
Philadelphia has not fared well away from Wells Fargo Center this season. In fact, they haven’t won on the road since December 29th when they defeated the Seattle Kraken in overtime. They are 0-9-2 on the road since that game, and 7-16-6 overall in away games this season.
As mentioned before, the Flyers will be without the services of Claude Giroux tonight. The captain played his 1000th career contest last night and it was certainly an emotional affair, highlighted by a pregame ceremony that featured a beautiful tribute video and a postgame salute by the captain. He skated around the Wells Fargo Center ice with his stick raised to the crowd, and it certainly felt like it was goodbye as thousands of misty-eyed fans watched Giroux emotionally walk down the tunnel after his salute.
Tonight, the Flyers will take on the Senators without Giroux and will look to earn another win against a pesky Ottawa club who will be without star defenseman Thomas Chabot due to a broken hand.

– This is the 101st all-time meeting between the Flyers and Senators, with Philadelphia holding a 50-34-8-8 advantage in the series.
– With Claude Giroux out of the lineup, Morgan Frost will slot in at center and will get some bigger minutes. Expect him to get a larger look on the power play as well in this situation.
