Joel Farabee Week-to-Week With Upper-Body Injury

The Philadelphia Flyers announced on Friday afternoon that forward Joel Farabee suffered an upper-body injury and will be out on a week-to-week basis.

The injury occurred on Wednesday night in Philadelphia’s 4-1 loss to the New York Rangers. Farabee went hard into the boards on Wednesday as he lost an edge and collected New York’s K’Andre Miller while sliding. The two collided into the boards and Farabee got the worst of it. It was just an unfortunate accident.

Farabee’s injury comes at a very inopportune time for the Flyers. Before Wednesday, he had scored in each of his last three contests and was one of the few Flyers that had been playing consistently well.

Philadelphia has been bitten by the injury bug excruciatingly hard this season. Ryan Ellis, Derick Brassard, and Patrick Brown are still out while Kevin Hayes finally returned to the lineup again against New York.

Farabee currently has 7 goals and 3 assists for 10 points in 21 games played this season for the Flyers. Max Willman was recalled from AHL Lehigh Valley to slot into Philadelphia’s lineup this weekend when they begin a stretch of five games in seven days. That slate will begin on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
