The Philadelphia Flyers have made yet another training camp roster move earlier today, as they have loaned goaltender Carson Bjarnason to the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL.
Their roster now sits with 51 players with 4 preseason games remaining.

2 days earlier, Daniel Brière and the Flyers came to terms with Bjarnason on his entry-level contract. The 18-year-old was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft with the 51st overall pick that originally belonged to the Chicago Blackhawks before the Flyers stepped in and made a trade.
The Flyers sent the Blackhawks a 2023 5th round pick as a well as a 2024 second round pick to snatch the top-ranked North American goaltender. His numbers were not eye-popping as he played behind a dreadful Wheat Kings team, but he came into the draft as the top-ranked goaltender. However, he was the fourth goaltender drafted after the Blackhawks drafted Adam Gajan with the 35th pick, the Arizona Coyotes drafted Micheal Hrabel with the 38th pick, and the Detroit Red Wings drafted Trey Augustine with the 41st pick.
Bjarnason sported a 21-19-6 record with a 3.08 GAA and a .900 SV% with 3 shutouts for Brandon. He was ranked 4th among WHL goaltenders in shutouts, 6th in minutes played, and 8th in saves made. In his first game with the Flyers in the Rookie Series game against the New York Rangers, he stopped 19 of 22 shots.
The Wheat Kings’ season kicked off on the 22nd of September, so Bjarnason will be joining them ahead of their 4th game of the season against the Moose Jaw Warriors on the 29th of this month. They are currently 2-0-1 after back-to-back victories against Moose Jaw and Prince Albert.
Bjarnason should take over the starting duties over Ethan Eskit (2-0-0/3.50 GAA/.870 SV%) and Nicholas Jones (0-0-1/6.90 GAA/.811 SV%) and continue to improve as the Flyers now have plenty of able-bodied goaltenders in their pipeline to watch over and develop.
