The Philadelphia Flyers (10-10-3) could springboard their season versus the New York Rangers.
Black Friday lends itself to this game. The Flyers are two points away from catching up to the Rangers in the NHL Metropolitan Division. As the shoppers bust the doors down to cash in on their must-have gifts, Philadelphia can take down the Rangers in an early must-win scenario. Both favor the early risers.
Gaining an early jump on the Rangers will put the Flyers squarely in the middle of the fight for an Eastern Conference Wildcard spot. Since the 2000-2001 season, Philadelphia is 8-8-4-1 in Black Friday games.
The Rangers (-148) are favorites, according to DraftKings Sportsbook. They rank 12th (70GF) in offense, 6th (59GA) in defense, 15th (20.4%) on the powerplay, and 2nd (87%) on the penalty kill. Comparably, the Flyers rank 19th (64GF) in offense, 28th (78GA) in defense, 24th (16.7%) on the powerplay, and 3rd (85.7%) on the penalty kill.

Philadelphia Flyers
Ivan Fedotov is the projected starter. Philadelphia enters a back-to-back, visiting the St. Louis Blues tomorrow. Alexei Kolosov will likely start on the road. Sam Ersson (lower body) is still day-to-day. Fedotov is 3-1-1 in his last five starts with a 90.1%SV and a 3GAA.
Rasmus Ristolainen limited the damage from the Nashville Predators. The Flyers did not have the puck often in Nashville, and Ristolainen was more active in the defensive zone. In 21:27, Ristolainen contributed an assist, a shot on goal, three hits, and eight blocked shots. In overtime, Ristolainen broke out the transition to Travis Konecny. Konecny had the assist on the game-winning goal by Sean Couturier.
Owen Tippett needs to get going. He did not end up on the stat sheet, but that does not mean his last performance was poor. Tippett, in 17:48, struggled to stand out with three shots on goal, one hit, and a blocked shot.
Nicolas Deslauriers, Erik Johnson, and Egor Zamula are healthy scratches. Jamie Drysdale (upper body) remains out of the lineup.
