The Philadelphia Flyers (27-26-8) host the Calgary Flames (28-23-9) at 7:00pm/ET.

On January 30th, these clubs did business. Daniel Brière and Craig Conroy made a trade, moving Joel Farabee and Morgan Frost to Calgary for Andrei Kuzmenko, Jakob Pelletier, a 2025 second-round pick, and a 2028 seventh-round pick. Since the trade:

  • Kuzmenko: 5GP, 1G, 2A, -4; 17:02ATOI
  • Pelletier: 4GP, 1A; 10:44ATOI
  • Frost: 10GP, 2G, 1A, -4; 16:32ATOI
  • Farabee: 10GP, 1G, -3; 14:30ATOI

Some analysts believed the Flyers were on the short end of this exchange, but Kuzmenko and Pelletier took to Philadelphia relatively quickly. Overall, Brière struck a good deal and will test those players in a game layered with emotion once the Flames hit the ice at the Wells Fargo Center.

Per DraftKings Sportsbook, the Flyers (-142) open at the favorites this morning. On paper, Philadelphia has a slight advantage. The penalty kill is 8/8 (100%) over the last five games, they’re winning 50.3% (18th) of all faceoff draws this season, and opposing goaltenders are giving up an average of 4.2GA in this five-game point streak. Calgary must be opportunistic, fighting fire with fire by drawing penalties to pursue the powerplay. The Flames are 1-0-0, winning the last duel between these two teams, 6-3.

Broadcast Info: NBC Sports Philadelphia; Flyers Radio 24/7

Philadelphia Flyers

Sam Ersson (18-10-4, 89.3%SV, 2.82GAA) will start. In his last start, the Flyers collapsed against the Pittsburgh Penguins in overtime, 5-4, after commanding a 3-0 lead in the second period. Ersson saved 20/25 shots (80%SV) during the loss, snapping a three-game win streak for the goaltender.

“Ers [Ersson] has been good for a while. I thought he faded in his last game.” – John Tortorella; 3/3/2025

Rasmus Ristolainen (+5, 88BLK, 90HIT, 21TK:46GV; 48.5%FF) is buzzing lately. He’s physical, digging into his defensive positioning to strip pucks, and fearless in blocking shots. On the second penalty-killing unit, Ristolainen protects his goaltenders. At times, Philadelphia struggles to clear the puck from the defensive zone. Ristolainen sets the tone on the penalty kill and contributed four points (2G, 2A) in the last five games.

Jamie Drysdale (-18, 68BLK, 10HIT, 18TK:50GV; 53.3%FF) scored the game-tying goal against the Winnipeg Jets. He facilitated a textbook give-and-go with Noah Cates before scoring in the second period, 1-1. Drysdale continues to move the puck with skill. His chemistry with Cates escalates to the second powerplay unit, too.
