Philadelphia Flyers prospect and Lehigh Valley Phantoms forward Tyson Foerster has been named to the American Hockey League’s inaugural Top Prospects Team.

Foerster is one of two players from the 2020 NHL Draft class on the team, alongside Chicago Blackhawks prospect and Rockford IceHogs forward Lukas Reichel.
Foerster enjoyed a fruitful season between Lehigh Valley and Philadelphia this past season. The 21-year-old potted 20 goals and 28 assists for 48 points in 66 games with the Phantoms. He helped lead the club to their first Calder Cup Playoffs appearance since 2018 and was named an AHL All-Star during the season as well.
The Alliston, Ontario native earned a recall to Philadelphia on March 9th and made his NHL debut that same night against the Carolina Hurricanes at PNC Arena in a 1-0 Flyers loss.
Foerster recorded his first NHL point with an assist against the Buffalo Sabres on March 17th, and then he tallied his first NHL goal against the Hurricanes the very next game in front of the home crowd at Wells Fargo Center.
The first of many.

Foerster skated in 8 games with the Flyers, racking up 3 goals and 4 assists for 7 points. The Flyers went 4-3-1 during Foerster’s stint with the big club, and he factored in on 25% of Philadelphia’s goals in those 8 games (7 points on 28 goals).
Flyers head coach John Tortorella became enamored with the forward, despite trying to keep his expectations tempered, saying, “I’ve said it many times with this kid Tyson. I’m trying to be careful, but each time I watch him I say…man, there’s another piece that maybe falls into place next year for us.”
Foerster is a key fixture of the Flyers’ future moving forward, and as the team’s rebuild continues to take shape under Daniel Brière, the young forward could find himself making a large impact in Philadelphia very quickly.
